Loop Hike with 360-Degree View of Coachella Valley, Joshua Tree, Indian Canyons, and Even Endangered Bighorn Sheep

What you'll do:
Experience the natural beauty of the desert on a captivating loop hike through the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument in south Palm Springs. As your hiking guide, I've got you covered! Each member of the group will receive a backpack, complete with water and a snack bar to keep you fueled and hydrated throughout the journey. During our hike, I'll share insights about the plants and animals that call this area home. This loop hike is approximately 3 hours long, including time for taking photos and brief breaks. It's a fantastic opportunity to get up close and personal with the desert while exploring some of the finest trails in Palm Springs, California.

Along the way, we'll make a special stop to admire the unique mid-century modern Bob Hope house. And when we reach the summit of Smoke Tree Mountain at Cahuilla Overlook, which stands at 1,522 feet and is the highest point of our hike, you can pick up a rock, make a wish, and toss it onto the massive rock pile. From here, you'll be treated to incredible 360-degree views of the Coachella Valley, the windmills and Joshua Tree National Park, the majestic San Jacinto Mountains, and Mount San Gorgonio (the tallest mountain in Southern California).

Additionally, we'll have the chance to observe Indian Canyons, the ancestral home of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, who have lived here for over 5000 years. If we're hiking during the winter season, there's a possibility of encountering the endangered Peninsular Bighorn Sheep, which come down to the desert to give birth. With a bit of luck, you'll have the opportunity to witness these incredible creatures in their natural habitat.

This hike requires at least a moderate health and fitness level.
There's an elevation gain of about 1000 feet to enjoy the best views.
This hike is not recommended for people that have heart issues, bad backs/knees, vertigo, balance/mobility issues, are pregnant, or are recovering from any surgery.
I'll go the pace of the slowest person for their safety and comfort.
Closed toe sturdy shoes with a good thread are needed.
Please dress for the weather forecast so you'll be comfortable.
This hike usually lasts about 3 hours with most hike clients, but may be quicker or longer depending on the experience/fitness of the group.
During warm/hot weather seasons please bring an electrolyte drink, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
