‍Why Venmo is a MUST for your BATCH Bash

Two words: free drinks. Picture this — you and your squad are out for a wild and unforgettable night, and the bar tabs are starting to add up. Just as you pull out your credit card to pay for that vodka soda, you get a notification from Venmo that $20 was just added to your account from someone you’ve never met, congratulating you on your engagement. Was it your Venmo handle on your car? Maybe the QR code on the back of your shirt? Crowdfunding is a super fun and popular way to get some extra funds for your big bachelorette weekend. And Venmo does a lot more than just that! Request and split payments among your crew, keep track of your spending and ditch the cash (AKA one less thing to lose on your night out). Basically, it’s a must, and we are here to tell you why.

Setting up your Bachelorette Venmo account

Bride-to-be, now’s your time to shine. You’ll want a bachelorette Venmo account for the weekend so you’re the one receiving the gifts. There are a couple of ways to do this, depending on if you already have an account or not.

Bachelorette Venmo Names

If you do, you can temporarily change your username. When it comes to bachelorette Venmo names, we recommend “@natsbatchbash” or “@madsbatchweekend”, something that connects you and your big weekend, so people know what the funds are for. You can easily do this under Settings > Edit Profile.

Or, you can make a brand new BATCH profile. You can create a brand new email address for the weekend for free, and use that for your new account!

If you don’t already have a profile, it’s super simple to create one. You can kick things off with a brand new email, or just make your username specific to your weekend events. It is totally up to you. As long as you have an account that accepts payments, you are golden.

PS! Each guest in your party can update their profile in the BATCH app with their Venmo handle so it's super easy to find when it's time to split up costs for cabs, bar tabs, and splitting restaurant bills. You can also use the Expenses feature in the BATCH app to log and split fees.

Sharing your Venmo account

This is where the fun really begins. And when we say fun, we mean ca$h money! But seriously, it could not be easier to share your account with your besties and anyone else you choose. Once you have a profile and you’ve added your details, you have two options for sharing your profile: by your QR code or your username.

To access your QR code, open the Venmo app. Click on your profile in the top left corner, and hit the QR code icon. There it is. Save it and download it, because this will be your favorite weekend accessory.

Here are a few ways to use your Bachelorette Venmo QR code:

1. Add it to your custom party t-shirts. Once you have the QR code file, you can add it to your custom shirts! Make it big enough so people can scan it, and add custom messaging like “buy a beer for the bride” above or beneath it. Once people scan your custom code, they will be able to send you money (you know the deal). QR codes make it so easy and so fun, that people won't be able to resist sending you a few bucks.

2. Print out business cards, AKA “buy the bride a drink cards” to pass out to strangers. This one is definitely more bold, but just as fun. You can make them as silly and unique as you would like, and have such a blast with your friends passing them out and meeting new friends.

At this point, you have a BATCH username. Here’s how we like to use your Bachelorette Venmo name to your advantage:

1. Add it to your car. This is especially fun if you're carpooling to a local bachelorette weekend. Here’s an example of what the chalk paint on your car could say — This bride loves tequila! Buy her a shot @natsbachbash on Venmo!

2. Post about it on your social accounts. This is a super cute way for the MOH and bridesmaids (or whoever else is celebrating) to spread the word and get a few extra drinks for the soon-to-be Mrs. She will feel so special and loved, and will absolutely appreciate the free drinks.

Get creative! There are so many unique ways to share the QR code or username. Just make sure the bride is comfortable with whatever you do, it is her weekend after all.

Oh yeah, this also makes things super easy for you and your crew. You can send and receive payments back & forth (or should we say batch & forth) and keep an eye on who has paid for what. In general, it’s really nice to have a digital receipt so everyone can pitch in. If the bride doesn’t want the responsibility, we would recommend the MOH take the lead! As long as someone makes it happen, it’s bound to be an epic BATCH bash.
